Can you tell me if there is any negative side-effects by combining asprin, acetametaphin, & ibuprofen? I am taking hydrocodone following surgery, but am wondering if I can take ibuprofen or asprin safely while taking this.

Thumper replied: "Yes you can take Ibuprofen with Tylenol if needed, just don't do it on a regular basis, only when you truly need both. Both are metabolized by the liver so take the smallest dose needed to control your pain. Try and space out the Vicodin and Ibuprofen 2-3 hours apart. Example: Take Vicodin @ 2:00 and if needed you could take Ibuprofen around 4:00 or 5:00. Do not take aspirin because of the increased bleeding risk especially when used with other medications like Ibuprofen."

Beth replied: "I was told to avoid aspirin and ibuprofen after my surgery. Hydrocodone already has acetaminophen in it, and 4000 mg daily is the maximum allowed dose for that. More will cause liver damage. I'd stick to the pre ion and a heating pad over the site."

She (my sister) almost died trying to commit suicide by taking an overdose of Asprin (half a bottle), but was never taken to the hopital as she was passed out in a friend's basement and no one could find her. Apparently, she was in a comma-like state after she was done vomiting foamy 'stuff'. When she came to her senses, she couldn't hear, except for a constant ringing in her ears which lasted over two days. Oh yeah...she was very drunk at the time as well. Canadian Goose replied: "There is hearing loss associated with too much aspirn, it s called Reye's Syndrome (i think); it affects the hair cells we need to hear in our cochlea. Pretty sure its not long term...except in children. This is why NEVER ever give a child aspirn, even baby aspirn."

If your problem is really migraine, not tension headache (better to have that checked out), an old remedy is eating one or two leaves of feverfew when you feel an attack coming. Works for 2 people I know!"

joteropr replied: "Well because aspirin is a natural anticoagulant if you got a serious cut it would be harder to stop the bleeding. Perhaps that can cause damages to your kidneys and lever and stomach because the acid part of aspirin (acethylsalycilic acid). You should consult your doctor."

what are the side effects if you drink a pill without eating? well i am at work and i had a very bad headache. I drank an excedrin and my headache is gone. i drank it on a empty stomach and i feel nauseas and i just started feeling dizzy. is it because of the asprin i took?? can that be the cause of me feeling dizzy?

Gary B replied: "1) The pill itself will make you feel sick. Usually nausea, possibly diarrhea. 2) The pill may not work properly. Sometimes food is necessary to slow" the progress of the pill into your intestines, where the medicines are absorbed better. Without food, the pill is digested in the stomach, and the medicine gets destroyed by the stomach acids. Aspirin-based products are NOT usually affected by food in the stomach."

Guru replied: "Aspirin, like any other pill, will irritate your stomach. When you eat foods, they churn in your stomach and turn into harmless acids that dissolve more foods and digested things, until excreted. So, when you eat something before taking an Aspirin, there are more acids inside your stomach to help dissolve the Aspirin, reducing the irritation that it can have on your stomach and stomach lining. If you don't eat before taking an Aspirin, you may get some stomach irritation, followed by a stomach ache, but it shouldn't be too severe. But, I would recommend having at least a small snack before taking one, or any other pill, for that matter."

Your dizzy probably is caused by other factors like your position (sitting, standing, etc.), your work (for example, looking to the monitor), or previous disease. You must rest for one day and if your dizzy remain, likely consul with your medicine."

What are the side effects on taking 5 mg. of ambien a sleeping pill? Does this pill make you cry one minute and then laugh the next. ambien that my 15 yr. old daughter takes seems to do this to her. and I was told it's not suppose to. She also has heart disease and takes other meds. Procardia 60 mg. Asprin 81 mg. , also get the Deppo, shot every 3 months.

pervtor replied: "My wife takes 10 mg every night. The main thing is to go to bed quickly after taking it. If my wife is awake more than 15 minutes she looks like she's on crack or something. Ive seen her combing her hair in the bathroom, laughing like she was listening to a stand-up comedian. Also with all of those drugs i would definitely make sure that your doctor knows about all of the drug interactions. Two of my wife's doctors put her on 2 different anti-depressants at the same time and she nearly went into a coma."

Cindy D replied: "Watch out for the Tylenol. Your liver cannot metabolize acetametaphin, however you spell it. It will cause liver failure, and it is an awful way to go. Other drugs can be flushed, not this one. If you care about them, call the police or someone you trust and get some intervention. Things will always get better..This too, shall pass."
